Music Theory is like the "grammar" of music. Just as we have rules in writing (like using periods and commas), music has its own set of rules. These rules help us understand how music works and why it sounds good to our ears.
Notes are the building blocks of music. Just like letters make up words, notes make up melodies (the tune you can hum). When you put notes together in a certain way, you get something called a scale. The most common scale is the major scale. If you start singing "Do-Re-Mi," you're singing a major scale!
Chords are when you play more than one note at the same time. They can sound happy, sad, or even spooky, depending on which notes you combine.
Music theory helps musicians create music that makes us feel different emotions, and it also helps them play together without clashing sounds.
